Academy 9 - Transformation 6 - Planning your wardrobe

Welcome back!

Last time we talked about clothes and looked into how to break things down into categories and think about your wardrobe. Today we’re going to be looking into how to plan your new wardrobe and not get overwhelmed by feeling you have to do everything at once.

The first thing to do is measure yourself. Hopefully, you’ve all been doing this regularly since Module 4 but if you’re planning to buy clothes then double-checking your measurements is a good idea.

The purchase pyramid

A lot of sissies get things back to front, they end up splurging on a lot of items that they wear infrequently and tend to skip over the more regular items.

This is perfectly understandable! A maid’s outfit or fabulous dress catches the eye and demands attention, but a smart skirt or pair of girl jeans is something that is equally femme and you’ll wear it much more often.

The way to think about this is to view it as a pyramid. You’re building your wardrobe

The base is everyday clothes, most of your purchases will be in this category.

The next step up are your work clothing, you’ll make fewer purchases here

This also serves to bring us to our next point...

Budget buying

Getting a whole new wardrobe isn’t something you can or should do overnight. Apart from the cost, buying an entire wardrobe in a short space of time would be very stressful and cause you to make rushed and bad choices.

As always, you need a plan! Look at how much money you have to spend on clothes and this will give you a start. Next work out what you need and what you want the most. Everyday clothes can be bought whenever the mood takes you but work outfits and special items can be used as treats and rewards, especially when you have to save for them.

Say you’ve spotted the absolute perfect schoolgirl uniform but it’s a little expensive and at the same time, you want to form a Yoga habit where you do 30 minutes of Yoga 3 times a week. You can work out how long it will take you to save for it and then commit to Yoga. Track it in your Training Book and when you’ve saved the money, see how well you’ve done. If you’ve been 80% or more successful then you’ve earned your new outfit, anything less and you need to start again. Give yourself another 4 weeks, recommit to Yoga and see how you’ve done at the end of it.

This way, each part of your training can reinforce the other. You get to build your wardrobe and use it as encouragement to help you form habits that let you grow and progress! You can even use it to control your finances.

Say you want to cut down your spending on fancy coffees, check your current spending on it per month and decide what you want to cut it down to. The money you save can go towards your reward so you can’t buy it until you’ve saved enough and when you have it. You can roll the extra money over towards another reward, allocate it somewhere else or just save it, you’ve successfully cut back on the habit you wanted too!

Another way to save money and have some fun shopping time is to check out thrift and charity stores in your area. This is a safe way to buy female clothes in person without having to take the bigger step of going into a specifically female clothing store or area.

Going into a thrift store will give you a chance to browse and if any of the assistants start chatting to you, well, you’re in a play and you need something for a costume, or you lost a bet and have to go to a party dressed as a women or any number of other things (or perhaps, maybe “I want something I’d look cute in”). Come up with a reason before you go and then don’t give it a second thought.

Beginning

A wonderful way to start building your femme wardrobe is to look at your current one. It’s very easy to accumulate clothes without even realising and then keep them “just in case”. This is how you end up with a wardrobe full of things you’re never going to wear again but you don’t want to throw out because they’re still in good shape!

Set aside some time to go through your wardrobe and, while you’re doing this, I want you to be overzealous. Anything that you’re not sure about and you’re 50/50 on keeping or discarding, put it in your discard pile.

To begin with, anything you haven’t worn in over a year should go. Unless you have a specific reason to keep it (professional or sentimental), don’t even give it a second thought just put it on a discard pile.

Next look for anything that is old (and showing it!) or worn. If something is falling to pieces or just looks faded and ratty then it’s time to say goodbye.

Next look for things that don’t fit you anymore. This is especially important if you’ve been dieting and losing (or gaining) weight, knowing that if you slack off and fall back into your old habits, your clothes won’t fit you is great motivation to keep going and having clothes that are sized for the new you will have you looking and feeling great and let everyone see your progress.

Lastly, go through every item left and ask yourself if it’s something you want to keep. Some items you will have to keep and some you will want to, but for the rest consider if they are really something you want to wear anymore.

Once you’ve gone through everything and made a pile of clothes to discard, go through the pile and make sure there’s nothing there that you’ve had second thoughts on and want to keep.

This is where being overzealous at the start is helpful. Asking if you want to get rid of something will have most people think that they are losing the item in question and instinctively react by keeping it. Once it’s been discarded, you view it from the other side, is it something you want to clutter up your wardrobe with?

When you’re happy with everything you can throw any clothes that are too worn away and give the rest to charity. That way you’ve done something good for yourself and good for others!

Replacing

Once you’ve got your wardrobe under control you can work to find a balance between your male and female sides. If you’re happy to dash ahead and make a sweeping change, an easy place to start is to dispose of your male underwear and go panties only 24/7. This is a popular choice and can be a really good marker in your life because you’re showing that you’ve accepted your sissy side is a permanent fixture.

This may not be possible for you or you may want to take smaller steps. In these cases either keep a few pairs of male underwear for occasions when you would prefer to wear them (say if you have to get undressed in front of others or for a doctors appointment) or you can work to replace them.

If you want to work towards 24/7 panty wear rather than jumping straight to it, accept that you’re not going to buy any new male undies. As the ones you have wear out, replace them with panties and over time you’ll naturally reach your goal.

You’ll start to reach the point where you’re wearing female clothes more often and this is where you need to be a little more rigorous with your wardrobe. If you come home and get changed into a skirt and blouse every day, then you don’t need to have many male clothes that you can just relax at home in. So you can either work on a one in/one out basis and each time you buy a female item, remove a male one or do a similar thing as you’re doing with your panties and as your male clothes wear out, think about if you need to replace them.

More and more femme

We’ve talked a little about how to wear more suitable clothing in your day to day life by wearing panties and home wear but you also want to start taking steps with the clothes you’re wearing outside.

You’ll be surprised (and maybe even shocked) by how much underwear you can wear under work or school clothing and have it not be noticeable by anyone looking at you. Girdles, stockings, suspenders and tights all lie close to your body and will be unnoticeable under trousers or jeans. You can wear them throughout the day, but try them out at home and spend some time in them first to make sure you don’t get too warm in them!

We will be delving into going out in public en femme in a future module but you can look through your girly wardrobe and see which items won’t stand out if you wore them outside. Your neon pink crop top with “Daddy’s little f*cktoy” spelled out in rhinestones is probably not a good choice but your girl jeans will do nothing more than show off your butt to perfection. After all, you’re not doing all this work to hide your smoking hot bod away from everyone!

Homework

You’ve got some plans to make and now you’ve got the knowledgebase to help you make them. Go through your wardrobe, look at your budget and start browsing for clothes. Look for everyday items and when you have a few planned start looking for a work outfit you can use to reward yourself for being a good girl!

Keep looking for inspiration too, both around you and in magazines. Once you’ve started paying attention, your brain will keep ticking away at it and the more you feed it, the more inspired it will get and you’ll find outfits and new ways to combine what you have just popping into your head.

The next lesson is still style focused but we’re moving away from dress, so you can take a few days to get your plans in place.
