Academy 5 - Identity 4 - Beauty & Nails
Hello
My love of makeup stretches as far back as I can remember, one of my earliest memories is sitting on my mother’s bed watching her apply her makeup for the day. She was a housewife and spent most of her day at home looking after me and my siblings but she had standards and would apply a full face of makeup everyday, she looked so glamorous compared to the other mothers!
Unsurprisingly, when I started dating I always preferred girls with heavy makeup but the relationships would never last very long. After a few of these, I realised it was because I was jealous, I wanted to wear makeup too! So I started practicing and reading and browsing the internet to learn everything I could.
I still dated, although less than before. Some girls found it off-putting (especially when my makeup was better) but some found having a dolled up boyfriend a huge turn on. One girl, in particular, was absolutely enamored with the idea and, subtly at first, the power dynamics started shifting and I became more and more submissive until she just took it for granted that her word was law. It ended up that I would be heavily made up and she would wear little or no makeup and I assumed the traditionally feminine roll in our relationship.
I never called her Mistress or thought of myself as a sissy, it just seemed a natural evolution of things. We’re still together (she’s my overseer at the salon) and since I started working at the Academy I’ve realised she’s naturally dominant and I’m a submissive sissy and I’m surprised at how common my story is.
Nails
Now that you know a little about me, let’s move on to today’s lesson. Almost everyone reading this will have 20 nails on their extremities. 5 on each hand and 5 on each foot, some will have less and some will even have more (some people have two toenails on their smallest toes).
The main function of a nail is to protect the end of your digits but if the functionality was our concern we wouldn’t be sissies! I prefer to think of nails as little canvases, an opportunity where we can add a splash of color.
Don’t get worried that some of these look complicated, this is a basic course on nails, so we won’t be doing anything too fancy.
What I want you to do now, is go back and look at the photos you’ve collected during the course so far. You should have a few folders of them. Take your time, look at each picture and see what the nails are like, do they add to the picture or do they just fade into the background?
I know sometimes the makeup appeals to me more than the picture, I’ll see a pair of gleaming red nails set off against a white background and it will just take my breath away!
Go through your pictures and find some where the nails just pop out at you and consider these inspirations.
Nail Care
Good grooming is a hallmark of a sissy and with nails, if you slack off on caring for your nail it can become apparent very quickly. Dirty nails, broken nails, and poorly maintained nails all jump out to anyone looking.
Fortunately, caring for your nails is simple. You should have a nail care kit which at the least contains nail scissors, a nail clipper, and a file.
First up wash your feet in warm water and then dry them. Then you can start trimming then, don’t cut too much (like hair, you can always cut more away if you haven’t taken enough but you can’t go back and take less!) or you’re likely to cause yourself some pain. Finally, you can use your file to smooth off the edges and take care of any bumps.
Don’t try and shape your nails when you cut them, this is something you should only do with longer nails. If you try it when they’re too short it can cause problems and you’re more likely to get ingrown nails (this is where the nail grows into the skin).
When you’ve finished one hand or foot, dip it in warm water to clean off the nails, then dry them and that’s it, basic nail care!
If your nails are dry or brittle, you can now add moisturizing cream.
A quick note on cuticles (which is my partners' pet name for me!), this is the layer of dead skin at the base of the nail and its thickness varies. If it’s very dry you can use cuticle cream to keep it moist but never try and cut it, it will be exquisitely painful. If you think yours are too thick, then get a cuticle pusher and work on slimming them that way (but do it gradually).
As a rule, I prefer clippers for my fingernails and scissors for my toenails but that’s a personal preference, find what works best for you.
Nail Polish
Now we’re getting the good part! Once you’ve finished your nail care routine you’re ready to paint.
We’ll start with your toes. Take it one foot at a time and to begin with you need to divide your toes. You can get dividers that you can work in between or you can just use cotton wool balls.
If you have one, use a buffing block on each nail and then put some nail polish remover on a cotton wool ball and wipe it over each nail (this step can be skipped the very first time you paint, but if you’ve had nail polish on, then don’t skip it).
Then you’re ready to paint. You only need a small drop of polish on your brush for each nail and when you apply it, you should be able to cover the nail in three sweeps from bottom to top (start in the middle then do either side). Don’t paint from the very bottom of the nail, leave a little gap.
Start from your big toe and work outwards, when you’ve finished one nail, move on to the next one and work your way through them all. As this is a basic course, you should have polish that only needs 1 coat so we don’t need to worry about applying more or doing an under or overcoat.
When you’ve done one foot, repeat on the other and then leave it to dry. If you’ve managed to get polish somewhere other than your nail, dip a Q-tip/cotton swab in nail polish remover and carefully wipe the polish off your toe.
The technique is the same for your fingernails but you don’t need to divide your fingers. Using your non-dominant hand to paint is a little awkward, but you’ll pick it up in no time.
Then, enjoy your pretty painted nails! If it’s your first time, don’t be worried it will wash away in the shower or rub off on your clothes, once it’s dry you’ll be fine.
Removal is as simple as using nail polish remover on a cotton ball and wiping the polish off.
Homework
I would hope this won’t come as a surprise to any of you. You need to start a weekly nail care habit and track it in your training book.
If you bite your nails, you need to stop. If you have difficulties stopping, look into nail polish that is designed to stop people biting their nails and keep using it until you’ve trained yourself out of the habit.
Practice applying nail polish until you are comfortable doing it.
Your nails are attached to your hands and feet and these need some attention to. You should have some moisturizing cream for your hands and you need to start using it at least twice a day. As a minimum, you should use it before you leave your house on a morning and just before you go to bed at night. If it’s cold or windy, you should apply it as needed throughout the day.
It’s a lot easier to protect your hands then it is to deal with problems after they happen, so track this and keep it up!
What you need to do on your feet will depend. If they’re fine then just use your body lotion on them after you shower. If you have calluses or patches of dry skin, then look into getting a nail file or pumice stone and start working on them at least once a week. You can also get cream specifically for your feet and if they are particularly dry you can get super moisturizing cream that you can apply overnight and some thin cotton socks so your bed sheets don’t get dirty.
If your lifestyle allows, keep your toenails painted as much as you can. It’s a wonderful thing to take off your shoes and see your nails twinkling back at you and it’s a way you can take your sissy side into the world without anyone knowing about it. My last job before the Academy was in an office and I lost count of the number of times
You should also keep your fingernails painted around the house, even if it’s only overnight or one day a week when you’re just having a lazy day and not planning to go outside (again lifestyle permitting). If it’s cold outside and you’re feeling daring, go for a walk with painted fingernails and wear gloves and if you’re feeling extra daring, look into clear nail polish and see if you’re up to wearing it all the time.
Ok, I hope you enjoyed this, in a few weeks time, you’ll get a delicious tingle every time you open a bottle of nail polish and the smell hits you! I’ll be talking to you again later in the module, so practice, practice, practice and see if you can impress me with your progress.
